Having all of your health information on one electronic medical record would be beneficial to you and your doctors. But what if there is a security breach and your information is compromised? The American Medical Association recently adopted new guidelines for doctors in the event of that happening. Under the guidelines, doctors will make sure patients are properly informed of the breach, follow the appropriate and ethical procedures for disclosure, make sure to put the patient’s interests first and help them recover from the breach.
