The National Institute of Standards and Technology has created the first of four sets of standards for health IT testing and software. The tools will help companies test their products and ensure uniformity for a range of aspects, like body mass index testing to proper formatting for electronic health records. NIST is also working with health IT vendors, the American National Standards Institute and other organizations to test, standardize, implement and certify more software in the future.
