DHS IG testfies about US-CERT shortcomings

Cybersecurity Update – Tune in weekdays at 30 minutes past the hour for the latest cybersecurity news on The Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Amy Morris (6-10 a.m.) and DorobekInsider with Chris Dorobek (3-5 p.m.). InfoSecurity reports that Skinner says there are three key areas where US-CERT falls short. First, the agencies lacks the enforcement authority to respond to security threats. US-CERT also can not compel other agencies to enact their recommendations, so cyber threats are not addressed in a timely fashion. Skinner also says that US CERT is working on several key action plans to address these issues.
