October 28, 2010 — Federal Security Spotlight this week talks with Kevin Cooley, the command information officer at the Navy Cyber Command.

He discusses how cybersecurity as a practice and discipline is being integrated with other Navy core functions such as logistics and into the very Combat Information Centers on ships.

Like other armed services and federal agencies, in general, the Navy has a growing need for cybersecurity expertise. Its approach is to train people and grow its own rather than try to recruit large numbers of people already elsewhere.
