White House launches Subcommittee on Privacy and Internet Policy to both promote online economic opportunities and protect individual privacy.

According to The White House blog, the new Subcommittee on Privacy and Internet Policy is aims to strike a balance between promoting economic opportunities online and protecting individuals’ privacy.

The subcommittee consists of representatives from more than a dozen federal departments and agencies, according to the blog.

The Departments of Commerce and Justice will co-chair the subcommittee.
