Estonia solves cyber staffing problem with volunteers

NPR and TechAmerica report on the volunteer organization for cyber defense in Estonia.

Is the United States headed towards a cybersecurity draft?

Not exactly. But General Keith Alexander, who heads up CYBERCOM, says the command is having serious trouble filling many of the remaining positions.

This staffing shortage is causing many in government to wonder where these experts will come from.

One possible solution is to copy the Estonia method. The European nation created the Cyber Defense League, a group of computer and networking specialists willing to volunteer their service as a cohesive military unit, NPR reports.

TechRepublic reports that right now the United States is not working on creating a similar League.
