January 13, 2011 — Federal Security Spotlight speaks with Thomas Schankweiler III, chief information security officer in the office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

He received an award from the training organization, ISC2, for developing a comprehensive cyber strategy. It includes training employees in their roles as protectors of mission critical and personally identifiable information.

One detail Schankweiler borrowed from the State Department – use of the weekly security tip that appears on users’ screens when they log on.
