The State Department launched Corridor, a social network for its employees to collaborate on projects.
Corridor – formerly Statebook – is now in its beta stage at the State Department.
The internal social network now has 5,000 members.
Richard Boly, director of the office of eDiplomacy at State, told Federal News Radio that Corridor has cut the time it takes to solve a difficult problem within hours.
“This is something that could have taken weeks to work on alone or just within the office, and yet it was crowdsourced into our internal crowd,” Boly said in the interview.
State has also set up two-day tech camps to help employees who may not feel comfortable using the social network or are unsure how technology can be practically applied to their day-to-day work.
