The deadline for implementation of Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (or TWIC cards) has officially passed. Now, the Coast Guard is working to develop requirements for the card readers that will be deployed at ports across the country. The Coast Guard held a public meeting yesterday to discuss its thoughts on this and gain ideas from those that will be affected. Commander David Murk is the chief of the Cargo and Facilities Division for Coast Guard Headquarters. He’s also responsible for the Coast Guard’s implementation of the TWIC program.
