- Attention all you feds with your own BlackBerrys: Now you can get data and device protection even if your BlackBerry wasn’t issued to you as part of a department-wide program. InformationWeek reports, Research in Motion is offering a new service called Protect. It gives individual BlackBerry users the ability to lock down their devices, remotely wipe their data, and locate lost devices on a map. The service is aimed at what RIM calls pro-sumers. That refers to users of BlackBerry Internet Service, as opposed to corporate users running BlackBerry enterprise service.
