Maryland offers BRAC bucks for homebuyers

Moving to the Free State as a result of BRAC? Maryland\'s got a little something for you when you buy a home.

Thanks to the Base Realignment and Closing Commission plans, thousands of military workers are expected to relocate to Maryland from Virginia and New Jersey. So, Maryland’s housing department has come up with a new program to welcome them. The Washington Business Journal reports the BRAC Match Program will allow homebuyers to receive $2,500 in home buying assistance. Workers can use the money as part of their down payment or to help with closing costs if they buy a home through the Maryland Mortgage Program. The BRAC Match Program is available to civilian and military employees of federal defense agencies relocating to Maryland. They can also use the program along with other state assistance available to homebuyers.
