Handover to Afghan troops to begin in months

Senior U.S. military commanders say the transition of security responsibilities from U.S. to Afghan troops will begin in the next several months.

U.S. troops in Afghanistan prepare to give up some of their duties. Senior military commanders say they’ll hand over more responsibility to Afghan troops over the next several months. The Obama administration has committed to start pulling forces out of Afghanistan next summer. But the transition in duties will depend on whether forces from both countries can keep the Taliban at bay.
