RSA cyber hack exposes a federal Achilles heel

How bad is the hacking of RSA for the federal government? We ask CERIAS\'s Gene Spafford.

By now you’ve heard the rare public acknowledgement by EMC Corp. The security company’s RSA Security Division was hacked. No word on the scope of the attack but EMC is one of the world’s biggest makers of data storage computers and a leading provider of government cybersecurity, including DoD and DHS. We talked about the break-in with Gene Spafford, the Executive Director of Purdue University’s CERIAS – which stands for the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security. He tells Federal News Radio that, typically, it’s impossible to tell how long a breach has been going on.
