Security problems are racking up for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The inspector general’s office there said it found more than 15,000 security holes. Federal Computer Week reported they were all because of FISMA compliance issues.

VA is having big problems with access controls and continuous monitoring, among others. But it’s not alone. FCW noted the IG report came after of a bigger White House review had found FISMA problems in many other agencies. That report said just seven of 24 agencies were 90 percent compliant with FISMA requirements. Also, more than 50 percent of the agencies said their compliance numbers had fallen since the previous fiscal year’s figures.
