The Department of Homeland Security has been on a cybersecurity hiring spree.

Mark Weatherford became undersecretary for cybersecurity last fall. Since then, he has hired eight senior officials to fill high-profile positions. Together, they coordinate cybersecurity research with policy and operations, and they spend a lot of time speaking to Congress, the public, other agencies, utilities and other operators of critical infrastructure.

They include names familiar to Federal News Radio listeners. John Streufert became DHS’ national cybersecurity division director in January. Mike Locatis is the new assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications. He was the Energy Department’s chief information officer.
