Another new position is being created in the Obama administration. Jeffrey Zients is the choice to become Chief Performance Officer; he’ll also become Deputy Director for Management at OMB. His confirmation hearing was yesterday, before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

After the hearing highlights, I talked to Jon Desenberg, Policy Director at the Performance Institute, about why he thinks a CPO is necessary, and what he forsees Mr. Zients dealing with if confirmed.
