The Deficit Reduction Commission’s ideas to trim the budget deficit would cut into federal pay or furloughs and also possibly the Pentagon’s war chests.
The commission wants to roll back defense spending, a plan that is supposed to save Americans over $ 1 trillion dollars in the next 10 years.
Carl Conetta, co-director of the Project on Defense Alternatives, said we’re on the right track with defense cuts.

The Sustainable Defense Task Force’s report offers options to save the government $960 billion between 2011 and 2020. (Report summary here.)
