Sleet and freezing rain fell overnight, glazing over the metro area. The federal government in the region is letting workers come in later than normal.
The Office of Personnel Management has announced federal agencies in the Washington, DC, area are open and under 2 hours delayed arrival. Employees should plan to arrive for work no more than two hours later than they would normally arrive.
Employees have the option for unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework.
The announcement was released just after 4 this morning as temperatures in the area were hovering near freezing. Temps are expected to rise throughout the morning to reach the upper 30s for the day.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for most of the DC area, except for Southern Maryland, where there a freezing rain advisory is in effect until 6 a.m.
