Female commander writes Marine history

Brigadier General Loretta Reynolds has become the first female commander of the Marine Corps\' historic recruit depot at Parris Island, S.C.

Brigadier General Loretta Reynolds is taking command at South Carolina’s Parris Island.

She is the first female general to be in charge of the base in its 96-year history.

Reynolds is best known as the first female Marine to hold a command position in a battle zone.
