DoD has asked Congress to reprogram $1 billion from accounts dedicated to building up Afghanistan’s national security forces. The Hill reported DoD wants to shift a portion of that money to add weapons to the Navy’s drone aircraft fleet.
The move is part of an $8 billion reprogramming request. The weaponized drones would be used to track down and eliminate moving targets in Afghanistan. DoD brass said even with the reprogramming, the Afghan army won’t be short-changed.
