Medicare still faces waste, fraud and abuse challenges

New GAO report examines old issue.

Medicare has been on GAO’s high-risk program list since 1990.

Part of the reason for this has to do with how large the program is, and its complexity makes it vulnerable to fraud, waste, and abuse.

GAO has looked at this issue before and made several recommendations in different reports about what can be done to turn things around.

Is any of it working, though?
