Madelyn Creedon was confirmed by the Senate Wednesday to be the Energy Department’s principal deputy administrator for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz said in a press release Creedon is “well-prepared for her new role at the Department as it follows a long career of public service in national security, including at the Department of Defense, with the Senate Armed Services Committee, and, previously, at the Department of Energy. NNSA Administrator Klotz and I thank the Senate for their attention to Madelyn’s nomination, and look forward to working with her.”
In her new role, Creedon will support NNSA administrator Frank Klotz and generally support President Obama’s nuclear security agenda.
Previously she served as the assistant secretary of Defense for Global Strategic Affairs at the DoD, and prior to that, she was counsel for the Democratic staff on the Senate Committee on Armed Services and was the staff lead for the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces also convering threat reduction and nuclear nonproliferation issues.
Creedon is a grad of St. Louis University Law and received her undergraduate degree in political science from University of Evansville, Indiana.
