College trains feds and industry in cyber

December 23, 2010 — Cybersecurity training is a growth opportunity for UMBC Training Centers, formerly known as the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus.

Thanks to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission, thousands of DoD employees are moving to Maryland and closer-by parts of Virginia. Plus the new DoD cyber command is being stood up at Ft. Meade, Md. It all adds up to a need for more cybersecurity training and education.

Jon Lau, Director of the Center for Cybersecurity for UMBC Training Centers, explains how the college works with the private sector and federal government to tailor a wide range of classes and degree programs in cybersecurity.
