The Naval Academy is including cybersecurity courses as part of its core curriculum.

Starting next year, all midshipmen will be required to take a least two courses in Cybersecurity before graduating.

Information Week reports first- year students will take a Cyber 1 course on recognizing cyber risks and threats.

A second, more technical course will be completed in their Junior year.

Naval Academy Dean Andrew Phillips says the change in curriculum was spurred by last year’s creation of the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command.
