On this week’s edition of On DoD, we get acquainted with Navy Cybersecurity. The new organization will have a permanent home within the office of the chief of Naval operations and will carry on the work of the year-long Task Force Cyber Awakening — the Navy’s wake-up call to the fact that cyber matters are a factor throughout the service, from its weapons systems to its routers and switches to the training it provides to sailors on what and what not to do when they’re using government IT systems.
Our guest for the full hour is Troy Johnson, the director of the new Navy Cybersecurity organization. He talked with Jared Serbu about how the new organization is organized, what its mission will be, and why the Navy saw the need to create another cyber governance structure in the first place.
