July 31, 2012 — The federal government has many agencies that handle the intricacies of healthcare IT.
The Military Health system is a $50 billion endeavor and that is separate from the systems at the Department of Health and Human Services.
The difficulty arises when one tries to communicate between systems.
Today’s interview is with Mario Hyland from AEGIS.net.
His professional background is understanding the subtleties of exchanging information among varying medical systems.
His company has a noble goal of “Ensuring health IT solutions interoperability for the 21st century and beyond”.
AEGIS had developed a software model for interoperability called the “Developers Integration Lab (DIL).”
During the interview, Hyland describes the key component of exchanging data as well as best practices for medical health records.
