Today’s guest is Jason Opdycke, chief technology officer, U.S. Defense, at Microsoft.  Everybody reading this knows of the bold initiative from the DoD to upgrade millions of computers to Windows 10. Let’s hear what perspective a subject matter expert from Microsoft has to say about the transition.

Opdycke takes the move to Windows 10 discussion to the next level.  During the discussion he talks about types of workloads the DoD customers use and the impact of changing an operating system can have.  He expands on the importance the cloud with perceptive observations about the “milCloud.”

One of the chief motivating factors for changing operating systems is security.  He details information about the Secure Host Baseline and ways systems can be upgraded and patched.  If you would like to learn more, Opdycke mentions the Microsoft Government Cloud Forum where speakers will give federal information professionals a deeper dive into the upgrade process, secure transition to the cloud, and where Azure fits into the picture.
