Honoring fallen heroes: National Police Week 2010

Law enforcement officers face many dangers on the job. May 7, 2010

May 7, 2010

116 – the number of line of duty fatalities in 2009
34% – the increase in fatalities in 2010
6 – the number of federal law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty

These sobering statistics drive home the risk that law enforcement officers face when they’re on the job. Honoring the service and sacrifice these officers have made is the mission of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF).

Every year, NLEOMF puts on National Police Week – May 9th-15th, 2010.

NLEOMF’s Chairman, Craig Floyd, will join host Bill Bransford to talk about the schedule of events for Police Week in DC and around the country. Mr. Floyd will also discuss the reasons for holding National Police Week, the trends in U.S. law enforcement fatalities and the October groundbreaking for the National Law Enforcement Museum.
