October 8, 2010 — From Facebook to Twitter, blogs to You Tube, federal agencies and federal employees are jumping on the social media bandwagon.

Individual federal employees are using Facebook and GovLoop to connect with colleagues government-wide, discuss hot topics in their field, and network.

Federal agencies are experimenting with a variety of platforms to educate the public about programs and services, interface with constituents, and create a more interactive dialogue with employees.

Deciding how to use social media effectively and implementing effective policies can be challenging, but rewarding.
