We continue our look at the Five Fallacies of Government – today, we’re asking is the government behind the technology curve?

There are two ways that one can go with this question, does the government spur IT innovation and does the federal government adopt IT innovation itself. Paul Brubaker has dealt with both of those issues. Brubaker served as the former Defense Department deputy CIO. Most recently he was the head of the Transportation Department’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration something like the DARPA for transportation issues. He currently is the senior director of the North American Public Sector Practice for Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group. And he tells us that the government spurs more innovation then most people know or expect.
