Congress and the Pentagon continue to review the controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy of gays in the military. But several U.S. allies have already implemented policies allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the military. Peter Singer is the director of the 21st Century Defense Initiative at the Brookings Institution. He says they found that singling gays out actually makes the issue much worse.
