Defense Authorization under seige

It\'s John McCain versus Lady Gaga on Tuesday as the Senate takes up the emotional issue of repealing the ban on gays serving openly in the military.

Senate Democrats are moving to end the ban on gays serving openly in the military, by adding a repeal to the 2011 defense authorization bill. The Pentagon is conducting a review of how ending the ban would affect the military. Republicans say a repeal is premature. The authorization bill would provide more than $700 billion in Defense spending in fiscal 2011.
