A leading House proponent of cybersecurity legislation is doubtful new cyber laws will pass during the lame duck session. New York Democrat Yvette Clark says three bills, one in the House and two in the Senate, are stalled as lawmakers argue over industry’s role in protecting critical infrastructure. According to NextGov, Ckark believes the respective roles of industry and government will remain uncertain without the legislation. And the president will lack the authority to take decisive action in the event of a widespread cyber space emergency.
