Commander: Afghan-Pakistan border impossible to seal

A senior U.S. commander said the focus is now fighting Taliban militants in Afghanistan.

American troops are concentrating on fighting Taliban militants and defending vulnerable towns in Afghanistan. They’ve reduced focus on trying to seal the border with Pakistan.

Army Colonel Viet Luong said trying to secure the border would require too much time and manpower. In Tuesday’s assessment of the war, Luong said border security would also require cooperation from tribes in Pakistan that often protect the Taliban.
