Military culture blamed for increased ID theft risk

The military\'s use of personal identifiable information places service members at a higher risk of identity theft than the population at large.

They say the military’s use of Social Security numbers and other types of personal identifiable information like birth dates makes service members more likely to become victims of ID theft. GovInfoSecurity.com reports the problem is magnified for those deployed to war zones. That’s mainly because ID theft could go unnoticed for some time, while troops are deployed.
