The federal government has had a goal to award five percent of their procurement dollars to women-owned small businesses, but they haven’t had the ability to reserve those contracts for competition. That changes on February 4th, when contracting officers will have the ability to set aside federal contracts for competition among women-owned small businesses. Judy Bradt, CEO of Summit Insight, tells Federal News Radio that preparation, including deciding if you want a federal contract, is critical.
