Cyberattacks against agencies up 40 percent

Cyber attacks against federal networks continued to rise last year. Agencies reported more than 41,000 cyber incidents in 2010. That’s up 40 percent from the year earlier. Those figures from the latest annual report to Congress from the Office of Management and Budget. OMB points out, agencies have instituted a number of new countermeasures in the last year. The report cites wider use of continuous network monitoring. OMB has also instituted what it calls Cyberscope sessions, in-depth probes of agency cyber activities.
