FTC surprised by number of ID theft complaints

The Federal Trade Commission has released its annual list of the top consumer complaints received in 2010. FTC\'s Steven Toporoff shares detalis.

Government documents are at risk of identity theft, according to the Federal Trade Commission’s Top 10 Consumer Complaints of 2010 list. Government documents and benefit fraud was the most common form of reported ID theft by consumers. Steven Toporoff, an attorney with the Privacy and Identity Protection Division at the Federal Trade Commission, told Federal News Radio ID theft was no surprise, but they weren’t expecting this many!
