Harvard University is bringing back a subject not seen on that campus in 40 years. It’s the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Harvard President Drew Gilpin and Navy Secretary Ray Mabus ink an agreement that returns Navy ROTC to the ivy league school. Harvard kicked out ROTC during the Vietnam war. In recent years, Harvard and other elite colleges cited the military’s don’t ask-don’t tell policy in keeping ROTC away. Buy now the armed forces are preparing to accept openly gay service members under a new law. Under the agreement, a director of Naval ROTC at Harvard will be appointed, and the university will resume funding the program. The program get office space and access to classrooms and athletic fields.
