ICANN accidentally posts personal info online

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers probably won’t be winning any prizes for security any time soon.

Last week it accidentally posted the home addresses of its newest top-level domain- name applicants, Government Computer Week reports.

Applications included a 50-question form, but only 30 of the questions were supposed to be posted publicly on its so-called Reveal Day.

Instead, it published the entire thing. ICANN pulled down the application information for several hours until the sensitive information was removed.

This follows another mishap in April, during which ICANN exposed information on more than 100 applications to other applicants. That time, it had to shut down the online application system for six weeks.
