Utility scam harvests personnel information

Thousands of people across the country have been conned into giving their Social Security numbers and other personal information online.

The government wants to pay your utility bills this steamy summer.

At least, that’s what many people are hearing through social media. Sorry, it is not a new bailout program. It’s a scam, reported USA Today.

Thousands of people across the country have been conned into giving their Social Security numbers and other personal information online.

No one knows who is behind it, but the scam has spread like wildfire as victims post to Facebook, tweet on Twitter or otherwise tell their friends that they’ve gotten a great deal.

It’s not until later that they find out no money is going to be deposited in their bank accounts.
