Soldiers charged in assassination plot

Four Army soldiers have been charged with plotting anti-government attacks, including assassinating President Barack Obama.

Prosecutors in Long County, Ga., said the soldiers from nearby Fort Stewart were part of a militia. It spent $87,000 on guns and bomb components. Members have been charged with the murders of a soldier and his girlfriend who knew about their plans. Pfc. Michael Burnett agreed to cooperate with prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and gang activity.

The group called itself FEAR, short for Forever Enduring Always Ready. Prosecutors said the militia dreamed of eventually overthrowing the government and killing the president.
