Innovation has been all the rage for federal agencies over the past few years. Innovation is supposed to makes government more efficient, provide better service and generally get up to date. But a new analysis from the Partnership for Public Service says agencies are starting to slip. When compared to the private sector the government as a whole is lagging behind.

The General Services Administration’s multiple award schedule contracts have been a mainstay of federal procurement for decades. In 2011, agencies spent $38 billion using the schedules. But analysis by GSA’s inspector general suggests, contractors aren’t living up to some of the pricing requirements.
