In this sluggish economy, cybersecurity is one field where employers say they just don’t have enough people. The military has too many people. Many service members are leaving and wondering about their next move. Now, two organizations with a lot at stake in the cyber industry have teamed up to give veterans the skills they need. Brian Eighmey is a recipient of the USA Cyber Warrior scholarship, funded by the professional organization (ISC)2 and Booz Allen Hamilton.

The Obama Administration wants fewer but better nuclear weapons. It has an ambitious, multi-billion dollar, multi-year plan to modernize its arsenal. Considering the controversy over the weapons and the federal budget, the plan has gotten a lukewarm reception from Congress, which held a hearing yesterday. Paul Hommert, director of Sandia National Laboratories has some insight. Whatever leaders decide, Sandia will play a key role in the outcome, as it has in the past.

The Affordable Care Act will benefit many, but it could also hurt thousands. As many as 250,000 federal and postal employees currently don’t have health insurance under the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan (FEHBP). By the beginning of the year they could be penalized.
