The General Services Administration is getting ready to make significant changes in the way the government buys commercial goods, by setting up a system of e-commerce portals. But first, GSA is in listening mode. Earlier this month, it issued two detailed requests for information, both to the companies who run commercial e-commerce platforms and to the vendors who might use them to sell their goods to the government. Last week, GSA held a public meeting to talk with vendors face-to-face. Larry Allen, president of Allen Federal Business Partners, talked with Jared Serbu on Federal Drive with Tom Temin about the questions GSA is asking, and what they tell us about the direction it’s headed with e-commerce.
