The longtime leader and founder of the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA), Steve Bauer, will retire in October.
After 30 years, longtime founder and executive director Steve Bauer is retiring from the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund.
FEEA, a non-profit organization that helps provide federal employees with educational scholarships and financial assistance in times of need, announced Bauer’s departure Sept. 6.
Joyce Warner, who currently serves as the executive vice president for global programs at IREX, will serve as FEEA’s new executive director.
“Ms. Warner’s experience designing and implementing organizational strategy, developing education programs and leading complex non-profit operations will serve the FEEA community in untold and exciting ways,” Bob Tobias, chairman of the FEEA Board of Directors, said in a Sept. 6. press release. “Ms. Warner’s appointment marks a new era of opportunity for the federal employee community at large. I am confident that [she] will be an incredible leader of FEEA.”
FEEA held “an exhaustive, nationwide” search for a new executive director, Tobias said.
Warner has more than 20 years of experience in the non-profit field. At IREX, she held strategic development, fundraising, communications and business operations duties. The global programs group, which she led, has more than 300 employees and programs in 100 countries.
“I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity to lead an organization focused on protecting the peace-of-mind and well being of this nation’s dedicated civil servants,” Warner said in a release. “I look forward to building on Steve’s 27 years of tremendous leadership of FEEA.”
Warner also has leadership experience as the chair of the board of directors for the William E. Doar Jr. Public Charter School in Washington and project management experience as a deputy project director for the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation.
Bauer will stay on with FEEA until Oct. 6, when Warner will officially begin her new job.
