How will the pay freeze affect federal managers?

The freeze would cover all of 2011 and 2012, for all civilian Federal employees; uniformed military wouldn\'t be included.

President Obama announced today that he’s proposing a two-year pay freeze for Federal employees. My colleague Suzanne Kubota reports on the details here. You can also hear the media announcement conference call with Dan Pfeiffer, White House Communications Director, and Jeff Zients, U.S. Chief Performance Officer and Office of Management and Budget Deputy Director for Management, offering more details on the proposal. You can watch the President’s announcement below.

I also talked to Paul Rowson, Executive Director of WorldatWork, about the implications of a potential pay freeze for managers in the Federal government. Paul offered some important best practices from the private sector, and explained how they can be applied in the Federal government. You can hear the conversation by clicking the audio link.
