If you’re out of the stock market – especially the C and F funds – get back in, and STAY in. Another in a long series of reports that finds buy-and-hold investing works better than active trading is out. Jonathan Chevreau writes in the National Post, a Canadian newspaper, that a Canadian investment newsletter is citing the new study as confirming evidence that moving in and out of equities is a good way to lose money.
Mike Causey points out, though, that at this point, studies like this probably won’t change anyone’s mind. This kind of information is more likely to simply serve as affirmation for folks who are already using buy-and-hold strategies. I think he might be right, but I wish he wasn’t.
