The number two official at the General Services Administration’s Public Building Service has been placed on administrative leave.
David Foley is the fourth senior official at headquarters to feel the aftershocks of the scathing inspector general report on excessive spending.
GSA spokesman Adam Elkington said Foley is being replaced in the interim by Desa Sealy, who was associate PBS Commissioner.
Additionally, Elkington said Linda Chero will be the Acting PBS Commissioner. She is a former Federal Acquisition Service Mid-Atlantic regional commissioner.
Government Executive first reported that GSA had placed Foley on administrative leave.
GSA’s decision to put Foley on leave comes as several members of Congress are teeing up hearings about the $822,000 conference that caused Martha Johnson to step down as administrator of the agency, and to fire Bob Peck, the PBS Commissioner, and Stephen Leeds, a senior advisor.
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) announced he would hold a hearing on Monday at 1:00 p.m. inviting Johnson, Peck, Foley, GSA IG Brian Miller, GSA chief of staff Michael Robertson and suspended Region 9 commissioner Jeff Neeley to testify.
Additionally, Congressmen John Mica (R-Fla.) and Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) also will hold a hearing of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency April 19 about the IG report.
Several other lawmakers also are looking into the report, including the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Environment and Public Works committees.
The Environment and Public Works hearing will be April 18 with acting GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini and IG Brian Miller.
