Martha Morphy – Chief Information Officer
The Electronic Records Archive project is the highest priority for the National Archives Records Administration right now.
Martha Morphy, NARA’s Chief Information Officer, says the agency is spending as much time as possible getting the second part of ERA ready to handle the Bush administration’s records on Jan. 21.
Morphy says most of the records will be a combination of e-mail and digital photographs. This is a huge change from 2000 when the Clinton Administration’s records were sent to NARA. Back then, there was a lot less e-mail and most of the photographs were taken using film.
The first iteration of ERA has been successful in its pilot with four agencies. Morphy says they will expand the pilot to include more agencies in 2009.
